We came up 'Trump' in Warsaw

Luckily for us, Donald Trump and his US entourage left Warsaw to go to the G20 Summit in Hamburg as we arrived so we were able to stroll around the city without the extra crowds, traffic and security. For the past couple of days, Trump's itinerary in Warsaw was constantly published on Polish morning television, right down to the hour. So when we alighted the interurban train at Warszawa Centralna, we immediately saw the Marriott hotel in which he had his overnight heavily guarded stay.
Warsaw has few skyscrapers but the ones they have are innovative in design..it puts Sydney's conventional box towers to shame.

Some of Warsaw's unusual architecture
The most noticeable building is the Palace of Culture and Technology next to Warsaw's central station. Build in 1955 under Russian Communist rule, the buildings tower is the highest in Poland.

We stopped for a coffee break and were naughty but needed energy for the long walk around the city.
Food hall on the top floor of the shopping centre.
Bizarre art on the walk down to the Vistula River

Next to the Vistula River is the Copernicus Science Centre. Copernicus was born just outside of Warsaw so it is fitting the science centre should bear his name. It is a VERY popular place and sells out fast. We arrived around 2 pm and ticket sales had stopped until a number of people inside had left. It is very much like Canberra's Questacon but might be larger and had some great Interactive exhibits.

Inside the Copernicus Science Centre

Sand that can be pushed into mounds and an interactive image will mark out the mountain contours and project it continuously onto the sand.
Lying down on a bed of nails...not that comfortable

Now you see me....
...whoops, I'm still partially there but rather ghostly
Size matters?

Swimming pool or not?
Robot who can be programmed to sing "the hills are alive with the sound of music"

Warsaw's Old Town that was completely destroyed by Nazi bombing and rebuilt exactly the way it was using photographs and paintings for reference.
