Warsaw has few skyscrapers but the ones they have are innovative in design..it puts Sydney's conventional box towers to shame.
Some of Warsaw's unusual architecture
The most noticeable building is the Palace of Culture and Technology next to Warsaw's central station. Build in 1955 under Russian Communist rule, the buildings tower is the highest in Poland.
Palace of Culture and Science
The Marriott Hotel where Donald Trump stayed the day before
Zlote Tarasy shopping mall next to Warsaw Central Station with its innovative glass roof
Next to the Vistula River is the Copernicus Science Centre. Copernicus was born just outside of Warsaw so it is fitting the science centre should bear his name. It is a VERY popular place and sells out fast. We arrived around 2 pm and ticket sales had stopped until a number of people inside had left. It is very much like Canberra's Questacon but might be larger and had some great Interactive exhibits.
Inside the Copernicus Science Centre
Sand that can be pushed into mounds and an interactive image will mark out the mountain contours and project it continuously onto the sand.
Lying down on a bed of nails...not that comfortable
Now you see me....
Size matters?
Swimming pool or not?
Robot who can be programmed to sing "the hills are alive with the sound of music"
Copernicus Science Centre next to the Vistula River with large stadium in the background
Warsaw's Old Town that was completely destroyed by Nazi bombing and rebuilt exactly the way it was using photographs and paintings for reference.
