Heading for Zakopane and the Polish Alps

After leaving Prague and visiting Kutna Hora, we headed south west toward the Slovak Republic and Polish border. The Czech country landscape is fairly flat, farming mainly wheat and poppies.
We stopped overnight at a small town called Tetcice on our route to Poland where the centre of the town's activity and entertainment was the Hotel u Crliku. It was full of character with it's almost old style architecture and painted walls. Not only were the rooms great but the restaurant food would have received top marks from Gordon Ramsay's standards.

After a short coffee break and a stop to purchase our Polish vignette for driving in the country, we headed towards the border and the ski resort of Zakopane.
A road side service station served a cappuccino with a biscuit, extra milk and water on a silver tray.

Zakopane is a very attractive ski resort with characteristic ski chalets and a very healthy economy in summer. This is actually the peak season where holiday makers come to hike or do Nordic walking. It is very family oriented and, seeing as it is school holidays in Europe, the place is a buzz with crowds of extended families.
