There are several ski runs and mountain trails in Zakopane but the most popular is Kasprowy Wierch at around 1950 m. To get there you need to catch a local bus to Kuznice and queue to get a ticket to board the first cable car. Half way up you change to another cable car for the steeper climb to the top. The views are spectacular over Zakopane and surrounding towns and out across the Tatra Mountains and the greater Carpathian Mountain range. The weather has been showery so we expected another 1000m to be misty, at the very least, and much cooler.
At first it was breezy and nippy, around 8-10 degrees on Kasprowy Wierch, but after a while the clouds set in and brilliant vistas turned to fog, whiteness and rain.

It was a long wait in the queue but our chance finally came to board the cable car.

The path to be climbed even when wearing sandals...I didn't think to pack mountain boots!
