Zakopane Quirkiness

The ski chalets of Zakopane have a certain characteristic style, some a more modern adaptation and others, like the one below, left in disrepair and ready for possible demolition. It stood behind a huge crooked iron fence and appeared dark and mysterious much like the location of a haunted house movie site.
What made it appear more sinister was the gigantic dark sculpted eagle perched on its rooftop!
Some of the ski chalets had ornate iron fences
The hotel we stayed at reflected the Communist era. Built around 1960's it's restaurant walls were plastered with images and objects from that time.

One of the posters showed an image from a milk bar where, during that time, utensils such as metal spoons had to be chained to the table otherwise people would take them.
